After nearly being nearly killed by one of the Suna rebels and saved by Mitsuki in the last minute, the two got trapped inside a cave in the depths of a valley with Natsumi being wounded on her leg. Upon being rescued by their friends, they reached Sunagakure where Natsumi was taken to the hospital.
Although the wound was treatable, it took a few days for everyone to realize that the wound wasn't just on the outside but on the inside too, as Natsumi had been traumatized by the nearly death experience.

Natsumi is 11 here, not having graduated from academy yet.
